Lamp Roles and Responsibilities

Each Role denotes a list of responsibilities. A Role is run by one person and may have as many Deputies as desired to help, though only one Deputy is suggested. Being in charge of a Role means you are the one in responsible that all needs of that Role are being met. It is expected to get volunteers to help with some of the Role’s duties. 

When items on the list fail it is up to the Role’s owner to notify the rest of the group as well as figure out, or work with others to figure out, solutions to the failures. Think about if you can successfully take charge of a Role before running it. 

  • Roles are: Directors, Leads, and Lampers
  • Role Tolerance: Taking both a Director and a Lead role should be ok. Try not to take two Director roles or more than two to three Lead roles. 

Directors

A Director has a full time job. They should be considered in charge and able to run all responsibilities in their Role as well as to be the point person for questions involving their Role.

Creative Director

  • CEO
  • Katie should make Role responsibilities. 

Art Director

  • Stage Production
  • Art Placement
  • Art Installations
  • Grant Giving

VJ Director

  • Visual mapping
  • Coordinating between all VJs
  • Booking VJs

DJ Director

  • Coordinating between all DJs
  • Booking DJs
  • Travel and housing per needs of DJs

Volunteer/Virgin Director

  • Volunteer
    • Event Slots
    • …
  • Virgins
    • Intro and recruiting
    • Any new members should be forced to pick a Role to work under. Get them in touch with that Role and have the be instantly involved besides just saying “I am here to volunteer, what next.”
  • Deputy
    • Work with Role owners to find Deputies. 
  • Considerations
    • Three types of people we want
      • Year round involved
      • Just our events, but not firefly
      • Just firefly, but ot events
      • Significant Others: still help out (Lamper by association)
    • One type we do not want
      • Camp with us because we are cool, not working

Exchequer Director

  • Accounting/Bookkeeping
  • Projecting budgets and trends
  • Reimbursement
  • Bills over time (storage payments mainly)

Ticketing Director

  • Guest Lists
  • Black Lists
  • Reviewing against Guest Lists
  • Event pages (Eventbrite/Paperbag)
  • Ticket Prices

Assistant Director

  • Coordination help for the Creative Director. 
  • Meetings, Newsletter, etc…

Leads

A Lead has less responsibilities than a Director. There is less need of a Deputy for these Roles. You are still the main point of contact for the Role including discussing with the group any issues that occur. 

Advertising Lead

  • Social media
  • Visual ads

Sound Lead

  • Audio equipment

Venue Lead

  • Venue Needs for any location, private or public. 
  • Port-a-potty
  • Coat check
  • EMT
  • Security
  • Food
  • Fire Safety
  • Trash/Recycle…

Door Lead

  • Door
  • Validates Ticket sales, etc…
  • Have blacklist and emergency procedures printed out

Coat Lead

Breakdown Lead

  • Breakdown sign up and clean up/return

Lighting Lead

  • Needs to understand lighting
  • Coordinating communication between all lighting resources

Inventory Lead

  • Restock and future equipment upgrades
  • Sell and release of old gear
  • Truck Load/unload for Events

Website Lead

  • Website maintenance

Bar Lead

  • Drink plans for long Events including amount of drinks offered per day and not allowing future supplies to get used early.
  • Plans the daily menu

Power Lead

  • Generator,

Twilight Lead

  • Placement of

Fire Lead

  • Fire circle safety

LNT Lead, Leave No Trace

  • Remove Moop for camp at end of event
  • Burn/event LNT coordination

Infrastructure Lead

  • Structure, tension or support
  • Placement
  • Inventory checking

Unclaimed Tasks

  • Merchandise and raffle sales

Lampers

Lampers are the most important role. The Lamper is what binds us in the dark. The Lamper is what sees into the future. A Lamper is winning.
